Best Practices in Reading Programmes:
What We Can Learn from Exemplary Teachers

Dr. Micheal P. Ford

Dubai March 16, 17, 2004

This workshop actively involved participants in exploring best practices in elementary reading programmes.

Newly emerging research from watching high impact exemplary teachers has lead to insights about eight key characteristics of quality reading instruction: instructional balance, high density, scaffolding, self-regulation, reading-writing integration, high expectations, effective management and articulation.

This workshop looked at each of these components and shared practical classroom-tested ideas that teachers can implement immediately to improve their reading programmes.
