Debates

As is the custom, the TeachME conference will be giving great importance to the practice of debating. There will be a talk on the importance of debating, a workshop on setting up and running debate teams, as well as a live debate session between two opposing school teams.

The topic of the Sudent Debate Session is:

Social Media is Bad For You

Requirements for participation are:

  1. Participating students must have a strong command of the English language
  2. They should be comfortable speaking without notes and in an impromptu manner
  3. Students may not read from scripts during the debate
  4. Both participating teams must be made of three students each
  5. The three members of both teams must be enrolled in school in the GCC for the academic year 2010-2011
  6. The teams should preferably be of mixed gender
  7. The teams must be made up of students aged 14 to 18
